VIEW FROM OUTSIDE : JOUBEEN MIRESKANDARI

20 September - 8 November 2019

On Friday 20 September Ab-Anbar Gallery will host the opening of the first exhibition of the series ‘Atelier Visit’ and the launch of the pilot book of the series.  Atelier Visit is a project by Behzad Hatam the art critic of the 1970’s Iran and founder of ‘gallery10.’. An art director at Roudaki Hall (the pre-revolution residence of the Tehran Opera, Iranian Ballet Company and Tehran Symphony Orchestra) he was also the curator of exhibitions there as well as exhibitions at gallery10. and the 2017 outstanding show of the Iranian master sculptor Parviz Tanavoli at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art. Atelier Visit project would present two Iranian contemporary artists through an exhibition and a book each year.

The young photographer Joubeen Mireskandari is the first artist from the series whose exhibition titled ‘View from Outside’ will open at Ab-Anbar gallery where a book on his work by the same title will be launched. Joubeen has previously been presented by three series of his works in two exhibitions at Dastan Gallery in 2012 and 2016 and an exhibition at Mohsen Gallery in 2013.

Joubeen is an artist with a versatile body of works that present his artistic view, his compassion, his social concern, his wit, and his agility. The title of the exhibition and the book refers to the artist’s height at 205cm which the author observes as the cause of his aesthetical view.

The book series ‘Atelier Visit’, in English and Farsi, is published by Nazar Art Publication in collaboration with ‘gallery 10.’
