Ab-Anbar is delighted to invite you to join us at the gallery on the 27th of July to experience Raha Raissnia's exclusive Expanded Cinema performance.
In this live event titled: ‘Koan’, Raha Raissnia will use a composite of film projectors, including 16mm and 35mm slides, to project onto a specially designed double screen. The artist has created these screens by layering two hand-painted surfaces, resulting in an optical effect reminiscent of 3D imagery. Throughout the event, Raissnia will delve into various mythologies, intertwining multiple timelines. Her meticulously crafted images bring together architectural and organic forms, employing a combination of photographic and hand-painted materials. The aim is to cultivate a meditative experience that transports the viewer into a trance-like state, guiding them through an exploration of light and shadow, leading to a profound metaphysical understanding. These visuals allude to the existence of inner spaces within ourselves, acting as gateways to something beyond our immediate perception. Attendees are encouraged to surrender to a constantly evolving and transformative flow of images, fully immersing themselves in the rich tapestry of historical and poetic allusions.
