'Unmasking the Soul, Revealing the Self,' curated by Morad Montazami, marks French-Lebanese artist Fadia Haddad's first solo exhibition in London, featuring her "Masks" series developed over fifteen years. Haddad's work, characterised by a quasi-mediumistic quality, delves into the perception of unseen forms guided by metaphysical forces. Her masks, created in the 2000s on canvas and paper, serve as activators of gestures, leading her through a delicate dance between inspiration and exhalation, transparency and opacity. Haddad's works navigate a borderland, enchanting the viewer with their intricacy and metaphoric depth, and transcend strict affiliations with American Expressionism. Her art represents a holistic blend of choreography, architecture, and painting, ultimately serving as a medium for unveiling her own soul and engaging in profound introspection, built upon a three-decade-long journey.
